The American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana's First Wednesdays are back in session starting Feb. 6 with a discussion about charter schools and school vouchers to occur at the same place and time as past First Wednesdays, noon to 12:50 p.m., at the Indiana Historical Society, 450 W. Ohio St.

For the Feb. 6 discussion, scheduled panelists include David Harris, president and chief executive officer of The Mind Trust; Helene M. Cross, board president of Fairbanks and Hope Academy Charter High School; and Dan Clark, deputy executive director of Indiana State Teachers Association.

First Wednesdays feature a question and answer session following the panel discussion.

Future topics include "Homeless in Indianapolis: Whose Problem is it?" on March 5; "Buses, Trains, and Monorails: Can Mass Transit Make it in Indianapolis?" on April 2; and "Children's Rights: Are our Children at the Mercy of the State...or their Parents?" on May 7. Panelists have yet to be determined for these discussions.
