Debate tackles film piracy

The student chapter of the Federalist Society at Indiana University Maurer School of Law ­- Bloomington and the Intellectual Property Association student group will co-host the final John Templeton Series Debate on film piracy.

"The Scurvy of Hollywood: International Film Piracy and the Pirate Bay cases of Sweden," will feature speakers John Malcolm, the executive vice president and director of Worldwide Anti-Piracy Operations for the Motion Picture Association of America, and Beth Cate, counsel for Indiana University. The two will debate about Hollywood's policy toward illegal file sharing and streaming, and international efforts to fight piracy. Marshall Leaffer, a professor and lecturer in international IP law at the school will moderate the debate.

The event is at noon April 13 in the Moot Courtroom at the law school. It is free and open to the public.
