ISBA seeks lawyers for election program

  • Print

The Indiana State Bar Association is looking for attorneys to help educate students about government and voting on Election Day. The ISBA is sponsoring the 2008 Indiana Kids' Election program that provides students from kindergarten to 12th grade with hands-on experience of voting in a class or school-wide mock election of governor and president.

Attorneys are needed in October as volunteers for IKE Speakers Bureau, where they will deliver one-hour classroom presentations about how decisions are made in the U.S. government, the rights and responsibilities of every person to vote, and issues facing candidates.

Materials will be provided to help volunteers with the presentations, but they also will have the ability to create their own presentation. The goal of the ISBA's involvement is to be non-partisan in its educational approach. The state bar will try to match attorneys with schools that are nearest to them.

Contact Carissa Long at the ISBA at (800) 266-2581 or [email protected] to volunteer or for more information.
