Bar foundation receives pledge for civics education

August 29, 2011

A third law firm has signed on as a visionary sponsor for the Indiana Bar Foundation’s We the People civics education program. Evansville firm Bamberger Foreman Oswald & Hahn has pledged $10,000 in support of the program, the foundation announced Friday, joining Barnes & Thornburg and Taft Stettinius & Hollister as top-level sponsors.

“The leadership and community support shown by the partners at Bamberger is outstanding,” said Charles R. Dunlap, executive director of the Indiana Bar Foundation. “Their investment in civic education means our programming will remain a strong learning opportunity for Indiana students. Bamberger’s recognition of this with financial support demonstrates a phenomenal commitment to improving community and youth leadership development around the state.”

Signing as a visionary sponsor means the firm will donate annually and conduct an internal campaign among attorneys asking them to make tax-deductible gifts to the foundation as well.

Since 1996, the foundation has operated civics education programs in Indiana, with a large component of the funding coming from federal sources. The foundation will lose federal funding in September and has begun seeking additional sources of revenue in order to continue offering its civics education programs.
