The Indiana University board of trustees appointed Hannah L. Buxbaum as acting dean of the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, effective Feb. 1. Buxbaum will serve as dean while the current dean, Lauren Robel, is interim provost for the school’s Bloomington campus.

Current IU Bloomington provost Karen Hanson is leaving IU Jan. 31 to take a position at the University of Minnesota. The school announced Dec. 6 that it had named Robel as interim provost while the university searched for a permanent successor.

Buxbuam is currently executive associate dean for academic affairs and John E. Schiller chair in legal ethics at the law school. She joined the Maurer faculty in 1997 and was named professor of law in 2003. She was appointed executive associate dean in 2009.
