Harrison Superior judge resigning, replacement appointed

Harrison Superior Judge Roger D. Davis has informed the Indiana Supreme Court that he is resigning Aug. 23. As a result, Chief Justice Brent Dickson appointed Senior Judge Curtis B. Eskew Jr. as judge pro tempore until a permanent replacement is chosen.

Davis told the court last week he planned to resign. Eskew’s appointment begins at 12:01 p.m. Aug. 23 and remains in place until either the governor’s appointee assumes the office or the newly elected judge of that court assumes office – whichever occurs first.

The order released Aug. 13 appointing Eskew does not give a reason for Davis’ resignation. Davis was elected to the bench and began serving in January 1997. Davis planned to run for re-election but recently withdrew his candidacy. Dennis Byrd has been selected as the Democratic challenger against Republican candidate Joseph Claypool.
