Lawyers in Lake County are being advised to take a day off in a couple of weeks and practice health instead of law.

The Lake County Bar Association will sponsor a “Practice Health, Not Law” event on June 17. LCBA president Shelice Tolbert said the event will include presenter Loretta Oleksy, deputy director of the Indiana Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program. Her wellness presentation offers members 1.5 hours of continuing legal education credit.

The event at the LCBA office at 291 W. 84th Dr. in Merrillville begins with a healthy lunch provided at noon, followed by Oleksy’s presentation from 1-2:30 p.m. Exhibits from health and wellness vendors will be open from 2:30 to 5 p.m., and a beginner yoga class will be offered at 5 p.m.

Complimentary services that will be offered include chiropractic spinal assessments, chair massages, nutrition information, healthful cooking demonstrations and food and smoothie samples.
