Attorney named IU athletic director

For the second time this year, a Baker & Daniels attorney has been named athletic director at a university in the state. Indiana University selected partner Fred Glass as its new athletic director today.

Glass has been at Baker & Daniels since 1993, practicing in business and corporate law. From 2000-2007, he was the president of the Marion County Capital Improvement Board, which owns and operates the Indiana Convention Center, Lucas Oil Stadium, Conseco Fieldhouse, and Victory Field. He served as president of the Indianapolis 2011 Super Bowl Bid Committee and sat on the local organizing committee for the NCAA men's and women's Final Four basketball tournaments and the Big Ten's men's and women's basketball tournaments in Indianapolis.

Glass worked for Indiana Gov. Evan Bayh from 1989 through mid-1993, spending part of his time as chief of staff. Glass earned his bachelor's degree at Indiana University in Bloomington and his law degree from Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis in 1984.

This summer, partner Jack Swarbrick was named the athletic director at the University of Notre Dame.
