Indiana University School of Law – Bloomington distinguished professor and director of the Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research Fred Cate will participate in a workshop in Brussels Oct. 22 to discuss interaction between European Union data protection laws and U.S. e-discovery rules.

The workshop will allow attorneys, company representatives, data protection authorities, and representatives of the European Commission, European Data Protection supervisor, and American academics to discuss the issues between U.S. discovery rules and European Union data protection laws. The workshop will give representatives on both sides of the issues a chance to work toward harmonizing European Union data protection laws with American discovery procedures.

The workshop is co-sponsored by the Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research and the Centre for Information Policy Leadership at Hunton & Williams, which has law offices in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
