High School Mock Trial Championship volunteers can earn free CLE

  • Print

Volunteers are needed to judge mock trials in May, when Indianapolis for the first time will host the National High School Mock Trial Championship. Attorneys who volunteer to judge will earn free continuing legal education credit.

The 2013 national championship will be May 10-13, and attorneys and judges will be needed to fill about 400 judge positions as mock trial teams, coaches and judges from around the country converge on downtown Indianapolis. To register as a volunteer, go to www.inmocktrial.org/RS/WelcomeMainPage.php.

Attorneys who volunteer to judge can earn as many as five hours of CLE credit. One hour of free CLE credit can be earned by viewing a one-hour educational program. Thereafter, any attorney who has viewed the program will be eligible for one additional hour of CLE credit for each round judged, up to a total maximum of five hours of free CLE.

Further information about the scheduling of the educational program will be announced after case materials are released on April 1.

Non-lawyer volunteers also are needed for such duties as courtroom liaisons, hospitality volunteers and others.
