Indiana Supreme Court history buffs have a new book to read. The Indiana Historical Society Press has published “Justices
of the Indiana Supreme Court,” which explores the lives of the state’s 106 justices.
The book includes interesting facts about the former justices – one ended up in an insane asylum and one served as
a surgeon on a ship in China. It also includes photographs, some from previously unpublished private family collections.
Seventy-two authors contributed to the book, which has an introduction by the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme
Court, John G. Roberts Jr.
The book is a collaborative effort between the court, its “Courts in the Classroom” outreach program, and the
Indiana Historical Society Press. The book is available for purchase at the Indiana Historical Society for $37.95.
A CLE program at 3 p.m. March 3 in the Supreme Court Courtroom will feature authors from the book. Reservations are required;
e-mail Elizabeth Osborn at eosborn@courts.state.in.us.
