Discussion to look at religious liberties

Back to TopCommentsE-mailPrint

Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas? The ACLU of Indiana is taking a look at the battle over religious liberties at its December First Wednesdays brown bag discussion.

The organizations says the holiday season provides a perfect opportunity to consider the reasons that the First Amendment explicitly provides for the free exercise of religion but prohibits the establishment of religion on the public square.

The panel is made up of Ken Falk, legal director of the ACLU of Indiana; Rabbi Dennis Sasso from Congregation Beth-El Zedeck in Indianapolis; and Stephen Webb, professor of religion and philosophy at Wabash College. Tim Swarens, editorial page editor at The Indianapolis Star, will moderate.

The free discussion is from noon to 12:50 p.m. Dec. 5 at the WFYI Rueben Community Room, 1630 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis. The ACLU encourages you to bring your lunch; it will provide drinks.
