Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law student Russell Hollis won $12,500 in cash and prizes on “Wheel
of Fortune.” Hollis’ episode aired Nov. 23, but was taped in September, so he’s had to be quiet about his
winnings for a few months.
Hollis won $7,500 in cash and a $5,000 gift card to Sears, although he didn’t make it to the bonus round. He said his
goal was to have fun on the show, which may have helped him handle his nerves. Hollis also pointed out that the wheel is heavy,
so that may have prevented him from studying the puzzles while spinning the wheel.
“Being a contestant on the ‘Wheel of Fortune’ helped me realize it is significantly more difficult to solve
puzzles as a contestant on the show than it is from the comfort of my living room,” he said.
