I wrote a post a few weeks back that said 75 percent of respondents to our online poll at that time said they had considered
leaving the practice. After two more days of voting, the number went down to 65 percent. That percentage still surprises me.
Two-thirds want to get out of the law. That’s a pretty telling number.
But, it appears Indiana isn’t too bad for those who want to practice law. In our most recently online poll, 50 percent said they haven’t left or considered leaving Indiana for better job opportunities. Those respondents think it’s still better here than other states.
The other half did consider leaving, but for various reasons. A third said yes, but not for solely economic reasons; the remaining 17 percent were leaving because they lost their job and couldn’t find one here.
Again, our polls aren’t scientific and used only to give us a general idea of how the legal profession feels on certain topics. Based on these polls, a lot aren’t feeling too good right now.
