According to the latest release on “The Employment Situation – Aug. 2010,” from the U.S. Department of
Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, legal services jobs saw a slight – and I do mean slight – increase compared
to recent months.
Before all you laid-off attorneys and paralegals jump for joy, you should know that the increase was just 1,000 jobs. But,
to look at the glass half-full, that’s 1,000 more people employed in the legal sector than last month. It also marks
the second straight month that the legal field saw an increase in employment.
The overall unemployment rate remained unchanged at 9.6 percent.
How are things looking locally? Are you seeing more new hires than in months past or is your firm still finding positions
to trim or leave open?
