Is law school a waste of time?

I recently read a piece by Penelope Trunk on about why she thinks law school is a waste of time. In a nutshell: lawyers are really salespeople; you’re going to end up working at a big firm even if you don’t plan to; going to law school is a cop out instead of facing the real world; having a J.D. isn’t useful; and you shouldn’t think you’re different than others.

Since I’m not an attorney, I can’t really comment on the truth to her statements, but you can. What do you think about the column? Do you agree or is she just trying to stir the pot?
