Did you know it’s National Pro Bono Week? I didn’t, until I randomly came across the information.
The annual National Pro Bono Celebration (http://www.probono.net/celebrateprobono) kicked off Sunday and goes through Oct.
29. It’s apparently an effort started by the American Bar Association and supported by local bar associations to encourage
attorneys to commit to doing pro bono work.
I hadn’t heard of any pushes from the state bar or any local bar associations here to put on or tie events into the
pro bono week theme. Have you heard of anything? Does knowing it is National Pro Bono Week inspire you to commit more time
this week toward helping others?
There’s something else I came across that I found interesting – Illinois Legal Aid launched an app this week for phones that will encourage and support pro bono work.
The app delivers training and practice support materials to attorneys who volunteer with legal services providers.
Now Illinois attorneys can say, “Pro bono work – there’s an app for that.”
