The Black Law Students Association, The Democratic Law Society and the ACLU chapter at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law will host a Black History Month event Feb. 14 commemorating the lives to two civil rights figures.

A panel discussion will focus on the Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth, a prominent figure in the Civil Rights Movement; and Hon. Robert L. Carter, who was a civil rights attorney before being appointed to the federal bench in New York by President Richard Nixon.

Panelists are IU McKinney School of Law professors Florence Roisman, George Wright and Michael Pitts; professor Rufus Burrow Jr. of Christian Theological Seminary; and professor Monroe Little of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis’ Department of History and Africana Studies.

The event is free and open to the public. It is from 4 to 6 p.m. in Inlow Hall, Room 385 in the law school.
