This year's Indiana Supreme Court Lecture at Valparaiso University School of Law will focus on significant racial differences in labor, housing, education, and wealth. Professor Daria Roithmayr of University of Southern California Gould School of Law will deliver the April 30 lecture "Lock-In: Why Racial Inequality Persists."

Roithmayr will argue that racial inequality reproduces itself and may remain "locked" in place until significant intervention breaks up the feedback loops that reproduce disparity.

The professor teaches and writes about critical race theory and comparative law, focusing on structural racial inequalities in the United States and South Africa. She is currently a consultant for the Education Rights Project in South Africa.

The Indiana Supreme Court Lecture focuses on questions of current interest to the profession and academia. It's made possible by the support of the state's highest court.
