The Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington launched a new center for law students this week: the Center on the Global Legal Profession. The center will focus on the challenges attorneys are facing around the world and will develop research and training materials to assist current and future lawyers in their understanding of international legal systems.

Professor William Henderson is the center's director; law professors Jayanth Krishnan and Ken Dau-Schmidt, and IU sociologist Ethan Michelson will also work with the center. The Maurer School of Law is collaborating with the Jindal Global Law School in New Delhi, India, and made the announcement of the launch in New Delhi earlier this month.

Henderson noted in a press release that the school's students can have a leg up if they understand how to effectively develop the trust and confidence of clients and other legal professionals.

"We will take broad data analysis from within the United States and compare it to trends and patterns that span other continents. We are reining in data that has recently become available to help explain those patterns, then essentially cracking the data open to see what we can expect in the future," Henderson said.
