Volunteers needed for Talk to a Lawyer

  • Print

The Indiana State Bar Association needs attorneys to volunteer for the Pro Bono Committee's annual "Talk to a Lawyer Today" effort on Jan. 19, which is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Attorneys work two-hour shifts taking questions either in person or over the phone from the general public who can't afford to pay for a lawyer.

More than 1,200 attorneys statewide have volunteered for the program in the past six years. Volunteer lawyers will receive a free manual with a "primer" of Indiana law, donated by the Indianapolis Bar Association.

Volunteers are needed all over the state. Visit the ISBA's Web site and click on the "Talk to a Lawyer Today" sign-up form to register and for contact information for each district.
