Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard received the Richard M. Fairbanks Circle of Hope Award Wednesday in Indianapolis. He received the award at the 10th annual Fairbanks Circle of Hope Dinner.

The chief justice attended and spoke at the event. He has been hampered in recent weeks with a pinched nerve in his neck but is working on managing the pain, according to Supreme Court Public Information Officer Kathryn Dolan.

The award recognizes outstanding contributions related to research, education, or treatment of drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. Fairbanks is a nonprofit alcohol and drug treatment center in Indianapolis.
