Gov. Mitch Daniels has appointed Joseph Hoage as Indiana public access counselor. He replaces Andrew Kossack, who recently resigned to take a position with the Indiana Department of Education.

Hoage has been an attorney with the Indiana Gaming Commission since 2008. Prior to that, he was a deputy prosecutor in the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. He earned his Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University School of Law.

Hoage’s appointment is effective immediately. He will serve the remainder of Kossack’s four-year term, which ends June 30, 2015. Kossack joined the DOE as an in-house attorney and will assist school corporations and other stakeholders with teacher contracting, collective bargaining, and other matters specifically addressed in Senate Enrolled Act 1 and SEA 575.
