The Marion County Sheriff’s Office will close the south public entrance to the Indianapolis City-County Building until repairs can be made to a metal detector that has been out of commission for weeks.

The office said in a statement the entrance from Washington Street will be closed to the public “out of an abundance of caution” until the metal detector is repaired, likely by the end of the week.

The sheriff’s office said there had been no complaints or security concerns while the detector was out of service, noting two other metal detectors at other entrances continued to work.
