Bruce D. Parent has taken his seat on the Lake Superior Court bench.

Parent officially took the bench Monday in Lake Superior Court 4, civil division, filling the vacancy created in January when Judge Gerald N. Svetanoff died at 78.

Gov. Mike Pence appointed Parent in September to fill the vacancy after the Lake County Judicial Nominating Commission interviewed 21 applicants for the position. Formerly a solo practitioner, Parent also has served as a public defender and a deputy prosecutor.
