Indianapolis law firms smashed a fundraising goal of $35,000, raising more than $39,000 in the annual American Lung Association Fight for Air Climb Law Firm Challenge. Teams collected donations and climbed to the top of downtown Indy's Chase Tower.
Quarles & Brady LLP’s climbers raised $11,640 – the top overall team amount. Among other law firms, Bose McKinney & Evans LLP raised $11,551, and Krieg DeVault LLP rounded out the top 3, collecting $5,691. Nine law firms participated. All total, 109 teams representing numerous groups and professions raised $292,000.
The Quarles team included $5,100 in donations raised from clients, family and friends of partner Joel Tragesser, who climbed in memory of his wife Kirsten's young daughter, Maddie Graham, who died in 2002 while awaiting a lung transplant.
Organizers said this year’s event was the most successful ever in terms of total raised and overall participation. A total of 1,060 people participated, including 118 climbers representing law firms.
