The nearly 2-year-old Commission on Improving the Status of Children has released its annual report, detailing its activities during the 2014-2015 fiscal year.

Formed in August 2013, the commission works with other state entities to study issues concerning vulnerable youth, make recommendations about pending legislation and promote best practices. Members of the commission come from across state government and include Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta Rush, Indiana Department of Child Services director Mary Beth Bonaventura and Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller.

During the 2014-2015 fiscal year, the commission focused on availability of mental health and substance abuse services to vulnerable youth. It also studied information sharing, promoted best practices and programs and heard presentations from agencies and experts about at-risk children and teenagers.

The 35-page report is available online at the commission’s website.
