Indiana attorneys are being reminded to complete the annual attorney registration process and certify their IOLTA status by Oct. 1, 2015. Lawyers who fail to register by the deadline will incur late fees and possible license suspension.

All Hoosier lawyers with an active or inactive license status are required to register annually with the Indiana appellate clerk. Notices are sent to all Indiana attorneys by Aug. 1 of each year. However, even if an attorney does not receive a letter, he or she is still required to complete the registration process by the deadline.

The new pro bono reporting rule does not take effect until 2016. But since attorneys will be asked next year to report the number of volunteer hours they worked in 2015, they should already be keeping track of their pro bono service.
