A memorial service for trailblazing Indianapolis attorney Sue Shadley is scheduled for Nov. 7 at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art.

Shadley, whose legal accomplishments included being the first female founding partner of a top 10 law firm in the city, died Oct. 19 from Lou Gehrig’s disease. She was 63.

The firm she co-founded in 1988, Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP, said in a statement the service will open for visitors at 1 p.m. in the Clowes Court ballroom at the Eiteljorg, followed by a memorial service, eulogy and remembrances beginning at 2 p.m. Attendees will be permitted to visit all Eiteljorg exhibits free of charge from 4 p.m. until closing.

Charitable donations in Shadley’s memory may be made to the Indiana Chapter of the ALS Foundation in lieu of flowers.

The selection of Eiteljorg is in keeping with one of Shadley’s lifelong passions. When she was selected as an Indiana Lawyer Distinguished Barrister in 2014, she said helping Native Americans was the civic cause most important to her.
