Jurors in northwestern Indiana have convicted a Porter County man of fatally shooting his wife in the head.

The (Munster) Times reports that jurors returned just before 1 a.m. Friday with a guilty verdict against 36-year-old Steven Lindsey in the January 2015 death of 23-year-old Melinda Lindsey at their home near Valparaiso.

The verdict comes in a second trial for Lindsey, whose trial in November ended with a hung jury. Lindsey has denied he killed his wife and said he and his wife were attacked in a home invasion.

Prosecutors have alleged Lindsey shot his wife because he feared she would leave him.

A judge is scheduled to sentence Lindsey on April 8.
