The Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission has picked the three finalists for the Indiana Supreme Court. The three, all judges, are seeking to replace Justice Robert Rucker, who will retire next month.

The JNC has selected Clark Circuit Judge Vicki Carmichael, Wabash Superior Judge Christopher Goff and Boone Superior Judge Matthew Kincaid.

The JNC made the announcement around 7 p.m. Wednesday after deliberating since around noon.

Now, the JNC will send a letter about the three finalists to Gov. Eric Holcomb, who will have 60 days from receiving that letter to make his choice for the bench. It will be Holcomb’s first appellate appointment.

The JNC held interviews with the 11 semifinalists Tuesday and Wednesday morning and conducted the first round of interviews March 21-22. Twenty-one people applied for Rucker's spot, with 20 being chosen for interviews.

Rucker's last day on the Supreme Court is May 12. The court announced Tuesday that he will become a senior judge, effective the day after his retirement.
