Time Flies When You are Having Fun

It is hard to believe that summer is in full swing and that most kids will be going back to school within the next month. In many ways, it seems like we were just counting down the remaining days until summer break started, and now I am thinking about what I need to do to get them ready to start school again in August.

Thankfully we are going on a family vacation this week, and I am looking forward to spending some time with my family and disconnecting from my law practice. I hope that during this busy summer you also have been able to find some time to relax and recharge with those most dear to you.

As we all start to prepare for the end of summer and getting back into the swing of things in the fall, I wanted to remind you of a few upcoming IndyBar events.

The first event is our Family Fun Day at Eagle Creek Park on Saturday, Aug. 5th from noon to 4 p.m. This event is sponsored by our Solo/Small Firm Committee and is a great way to end the summer with your family and other members of the IndyBar.

There will be a $15.00 per car admission fee, which will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks and games for you and your family. Please plan to bring a side dish to share.  This event is another example of the IndyBar’s focus on attorney wellness. We hope you are able to take advantage of this opportunity for some fun in the sun!

Please also mark your calendars for our Diversity Job Fair Luncheon on Tuesday, Aug. 15th at noon at the Hilton Indianapolis. Even if your law firm is not conducting interviews at the job fair, you can still come and support this important event by attending the lunch.

Our Diversity Job Fair provides students from all over the country the opportunity to interview with Indianapolis employers for both summer clerkship opportunities and full-time employment after graduation. We traditionally have more than 30 employers participate in this job fair and many of the interviewing students receive an offer of employment.

The Diversity Job Fair has allowed Indianapolis employers to recruit top legal talent from across the country, while continuing efforts to diversify our legal community. Come and take a break from the grind and enjoy lunch with law students who are eager to learn about benefits of practicing law in Indianapolis!

Online registration for these events and more is available at indybar.org/events. I hope to see you out and about as we savor these final days of summer!•
