The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee approved by a unanimous voice vote Thursday the nomination of Joshua Minkler to continue to be the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Indiana.

Minkler, who has served as U.S. attorney for Indiana’s Southern District since 2015, was nominated by President Donald Trump in July 2017 to remain in office for another four years. His nomination now moves to the U.S. Senate where a vote has yet to be scheduled.

The Judiciary Committee approved Minkler and three other U.S. attorney nominees with no objection during its executive business meeting.

A graduate of Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Minkler joined the federal prosecutor’s office in 1994 and became the U.S. attorney in the Southern District after Joe Hogsett resigned from office to run for mayor of Indianapolis.

Thomas Kirsch II, who was nominated by Trump to serve as U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Indiana, is still waiting for his hearing before the Judiciary Committee. His nomination was received by the Senate and passed on to the committee Aug. 2.
