South Bend International Airport director Michael Daigle has been appointed to the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission as one of three lay representatives on the seven-member panel.

Gov. Eric Holcomb announced Daigle’s appointment Monday. He succeeds Rudy Yakym III of Granger as the non-lawyer member appointed from the northern Indiana judicial district. Yakym’s term expires December 31, and Daigle’s three-year term will begin Jan. 1, 2018.

Daigle’s appointment completes the appointments to the JNC due this year. Bar members last month elected Daniel Vinovich of Highland to serve as the attorney representative for northern Indiana. Vinovich will succeed attorney member John O. Feighner of Fort Wayne, also beginning a three-year term on Jan. 1.

Members of the JNC also comprise the Judicial Qualifications Commission. The JNC’s duties include interviewing and nominating judges on the Indiana Court of Appeals and justices of the Indiana Supreme Court, while the JQC investigates and prosecutes allegations of judicial misconduct. The JNC and JQC consist of three lay members and three attorney members, and the panels are chaired by the Indiana chief justice.

More information about the JNC and JQC is available here.
