Even experienced lawyers get a little nervous when they walk into a courtroom. “How does this judge prefer the motion or issue to be presented? Even with e-filing, does the court still want hard copies of the exhibits that were attached to the pleading?” We’ve all found ourselves asking these questions. Now, you can get answers to these and many other questions you may have always wondered about at the IndyBar Litigation Section’s brand new Lunch at the Bench series!

The series gives practitioners the chance to spend a lunch hour with judges from Marion County in their courtrooms in a relaxed setting while learning about each judge’s preferences, tips, “dos and don’t’s,” meet court staff and ask questions of the judge. It’s an unparalleled opportunity to obtain practical knowledge while getting to know the judge.

The Lunch at the Bench seminars are held once a month in the City-County Building and space is limited, so don’t wait to register! Whether you are a young lawyer or a seasoned veteran of the bar, this series will help put you at ease when your case takes you into the courtroom. Our next session will be in Judge Chavis’ courtroom on June 1. Register for Judge Chavis’ program at indybar.org/events and keep up on Lunch at the Bench seminar updates at indybar.org/lit!
