dtci-mortimer-reneeAs you may be aware, I am your DRI Indiana state representative. In my last year serving in this role, I invite you all to join me in San Francisco for the DRI Annual Meeting! This event will take place October 17-21 at the beautiful San Francisco Marriott Marquis Hotel.

As I have reminded you previously, if you are a civil defense lawyer, you should be a member of this organization. If you are a member of DRI, then you should go to this meeting! There, you will expand your network of civil defense colleagues and exchange ideas, experiences, successes and challenges with them. The icing on the cake, so to speak, is that you will earn up to 12 hours of CLE credits, including 3 hours of ethics credit.

San Francisco is such an incredible place, and it is easily one of the top destinations in the world. It has world-class scenery, incredible art, history and cultural diversity, as well as top-notch restaurants and outstanding shopping opportunities (my personal favorite).

This year, the list of keynote speakers will include Valerie Jarrett, senior adviser to President Barack Obama and distinguished fellow at University of Chicago Law School, and Condoleezza Rice, our 66th secretary of state. As always, at this meeting, DRI will continue to host substantive programs and committee meetings that will encompass a variety of topics to enhance your career and motivate you going forward in your practice of law. You will become involved in the substantive committee meetings with your colleagues and focus on the new trends in our practice, including trends in technology and in social media. You will be able to attend a variety of networking events to develop your business as well. For example, the networking reception will be in The Village, a short walk from the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. There, you will enjoy wonderful cuisine and an evening of high-tech fun!

DRI is the largest international membership organization of attorneys defending the interests of businesses and individuals in civil litigation. DRI’s members are often also members and leaders of other defense organizations. Thus, joining DRI — which has a commitment to diversity and inclusion and also encourages all national, state and local defense organizations — is a must to any defense practice. Do not miss out on being a member of this organization, and certainly do not miss out on this meeting in San Francisco!

Go to dri.org and get the details on membership and the annual meeting! See you all there!•
