A former Carroll County judge has been appointed to oversee the Clinton Superior Court while the sitting judge is deployed on military duty.

Clinton Superior Court Judge Justin H. Hunter has informed the Indiana Supreme Court that he will temporarily step down from his seat on the bench while he is deployed on active military duty. Serving in his place as judge pro tempore will be former Carroll Circuit Court Judge Donald E. Currie.

Currie’s term in the Clinton Superior Court will begin effective May 1 and upon his execution of an oath of office. Currie will remain as judge pro tem until Hunter informs the court that he can resume the duties of the office, a Monday order from the Supreme Court said.

Currie will be compensated at the same rate as the regular judge commencing from the effective date of his appointment and will have authority to continue the employment of court personnel and discharge the duties of the Clinton Superior Court judge.
