Six Indianapolis-area law firms competed in a challenge to raise awareness and funds for their firm’s teams, raising more than $17,500 for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s held Oct. 13.

Bose McKinney & Evans LLP, Duvall Bloomer & Caldwell P.C., Hunter Law Office P.C., Rubin & Levin P.C., Severns Associates P.C. and Wooden & McLaughlin LLP raised the funds through individual donations, bake sales and unique fundraisers.

The Alzheimer’s Association announced Thursday that Bose McKinney & Evans won the challenge, raising $9,700.

“Bose McKinney & Evans has been dedicated to helping in the fight against Alzheimer’s since our founder, Lew Bose, lost his battle with the disease in 2001,” said Jennifer Walker, chief marketing officer of the law firm and 2013 captain of Team Bose. “We were honored to participate in the Law Firm Challenge and to help raise awareness of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and to encourage some friendly competition, in the law firm community.”

Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in the U.S. More than 120,000 people in Indiana live with the disease.
