A ceremony at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis marked the admission of 160 new attorneys to the practice of law Tuesday.

The newly minted attorneys are those who successfully passed the bar exam in February. They took the oath from Kevin Smith, clerk of the Indiana Supreme Court, Court of Appeals and Tax Court. Many also took the oath for admission to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.

Speakers included Indiana Chief Justice Brent Dickson, Court of Appeals Chief Judge Nancy Vaidik, Indiana Supreme Court Justice Loretta Rush and Anthony Rose, chairman of the Young Lawyers Section of the Indiana State Bar Association.

Among other dignitaries who attended the ceremony and welcomed the new lawyers to the profession were Southern District Judge William Lawrence and Northern District Judge John Martin.
