Four people who were on board a double-decker passenger bus that crashed near Indianapolis are suing the bus company.

The Chicago residents filed the lawsuit Wednesday in a Cook County, Illinois, court, claiming negligence by the Megabus line for Tuesday morning's crash where the bus flipped onto its side in an Interstate 65 median.

The lawsuit says passengers heard the driver say the windshield wipers weren't working during the Atlanta-to-Chicago trip and that the bus was going too fast on the wet highway.

Police say 17 passengers suffered mostly minor injuries after the bus struck a car that had crashed earlier in the Indianapolis suburb of Greenwood.

A Megabus spokesman declined Thursday to comment on the lawsuit, saying it was focused on the needs of the passengers.
