The death of a popular Notre Dame Law School professor and undergradate mock trial coach was caused by cardiovascular disease, according to the St. Joseph County coroner’s office.

Drew Haase, 31, died April 1 from fibromuscular dysplasia, the coroner’s office reported July 18. The disease of the blood vessels causes abnormal tissue growth within artery walls.

Haase was remembered as an inspiring leader by his Notre Dame’s mock trial team that rallied just weeks after his death and excelled in his honor during national competition.

Haase was an adjunct professor at Notre Dame School of Law and a clerk for federal Judge Jon DeGuilio of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, South Bend.
