The true-crime documentary series “American Greed” next month will air an episode featuring convicted fraudster and former high-powered Indiana attorney William Conour.

A producer for the CNBC network series said the episode will air at 10 p.m. Eastern Time on Oct. 16. Conour is serving a 10-year wire fraud sentence in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to stealing more than $6.5 million in settlement proceeds from more than 30 victims he represented in personal injury and wrongful death cases.

Conour operated a Ponzi scheme with clients’ settlement proceeds, which he used to support a lavish lifestyle that came crashing down when federal authorities charged him in April 2012. “American Greed” Executive Producer Charles Schaeffer told IL when the show was being taped that Conour was a perfect fit for the series. The show bills itself as a “shocking true crime series (that) examines the dark side of the American Dream.”

Schaeffer said Conour “relied on his status and ability as a lawyer to be seen as a trusted friend when in reality he was a fierce predator and it cost his clients millions of dollars.”

The episode featuring Conour also will profile Gary Milby, a Kentucky man who was sentenced as a co-defendant to 20 years in prison for defrauding investors of millions of dollars in an oil-drilling scam.
