GOP, Democratic leaders to preview Indiana session

Leaders in Indiana's House and Senate are set to speak at a forum today where they will give a glimpse of issues on the horizon during the upcoming legislative session.

Republican Senate President Pro Tem David Long will join GOP House Speaker Brian Bosma and others at the forum sponsored by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

House Democratic leader Scott Pelath also will discuss the legislative session that begins in January and could fuel the 2016 gubernatorial race.

Lawmakers are expected to face contentious debates about adding sexual orientation and gender identity to the state civil rights laws and how to fund highway improvement projects.

The General Assembly has its Organization Day meetings on Tuesday, with supporters and opponents of expanded gay rights planning to hold demonstrations at the Statehouse.
