The Indiana Supreme Court has appointed three judges to temporarily replace a Noblesville city judge who died last month.

In an order posted  Monday, the state’s high court appointed judges Judith S. Proffitt, Jerry M. Barr and Daniel J. Pfleging as judges pro tempore in the Noblesville City Court. Proffitt will serve as judge pro tempore today and Nov. 8 and 15; Barr will serve on Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13 and 20; and Pfleging will serve on Jan. 3, 2017 and ever yTuesday thereafter.

The appointments come after Noblesville City Court Judge Gregory L. Caldwell died Oct. 13. Caldwell became city judge in 1992 and was still on the bench at the time of his death. Before becoming judge in Noblesville, Caldwell worked in private practice in Hamilton County and as a deputy prosecutor in Tipton. He practiced law in Indiana for 48 years.

The order calls for the appointments of the judges pro tempore to be cancelled when the Supreme Court appoints an official successor for Caldwell. The order says they may claim senior judge credit though they will be compensated at the same rate as Caldwell.
