A retiring Vigo Circuit Court judge has been temporarily appointed judge of the Terre Haute City Court.

The Indiana Supreme Court appointed David R. Bolk as judge pro tempore of the Terre Haute City Court Monday after the sitting judge, Sarah K. Mullican, was elected to serve as judge of the Vigo Circuit Court. Mullican will replace Bolk, who is retiring from the Circuit Court after 26 years on the bench.

Bolk was first appointed to the Terre Haute City Court in 1991 by former Gov. Evan Bayh and served on the city bench for 12 years before transitioning to the county circuit and superior courts for 14 years, according to the Terre Haute Tribune Star.

Bolk’s seat on the Terre Haute City Court bench will begin Jan. 1 unless a formal successor for Mullican is named.
