The initial court hearing for a man charged in the fatal shooting of a police officer in Indianapolis has been delayed because he remains hospitalized.

Marion County prosecutors say Tuesday's planned hearing for 28-year-old Jason Brown is now scheduled for Thursday. Brown remains held without bond on suspicion of murder in Southport police Lt. Aaron Allan's July 27 slaying.

Brown was hospitalized after another officer shot him following Allan's shooting. Marion County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Katie Carlson says Brown remained hospitalized Tuesday.

Brown was formally charged in Allan's killing Tuesday. According to the probable cause affidavit in this case, Brown allegedly at Allan, striking him 11 times.

An affidavit filed Friday says Brown was "hysterical" and dangling upside down in his overturned car as Allan approached to help after Brown's speeding car overturned.
