A 25-year-old Chicago-based law firm has announced the opening of its first office in the Hoosier State to serve its industrial and manufacturing clients in northwestern Indiana.

Swanson, Martin & Bell LLP recently opened an office in Hammond, which firm managing partner Timothy G. Nickels said was a natural expansion. The firm’s clients include steel producers, power companies, fuel distributors, auto and RV manufacturers and parts makers, many in northwestern Indiana.

“Our attorneys have represented Indiana-based clients for years, including many in industrialized Lake County and its surrounding areas,” Nickels said. “It made sense for us to maintain a presence in the Region to better serve those clients and prospective new ones.”

The firm’s practice areas include environmental and toxic torts, product liability, class action, commercial disputes, medical and professional liability and malpractice and construction litigation trial work.

Swanson, Martin & Bell has more than 130 lawyers in offices in Chicago and in Lisle, Libertyville and Edwardsville, Ill. The firm also has an office in St. Louis, Missouri.
