An Indianapolis man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for repeatedly shooting his estranged wife at a law office.

Fifty-nine-year-old Robert Evans was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to attempted murder.

The July 2016 shooting occurred at a law office on Indianapolis’ north side. Marion County prosecutors say the two began arguing and Evans went to his car for a handgun. They say he came back in, jumped over a reception desk to reach his wife in the rear of the law office and then fired multiple shots at her, even while the woman and two employees fled the premises.

Evans was captured about a mile away.

The victim survived, but suffered 10 wounds that caused injuries to multiple organs in her abdomen.
