The Benton Circuit Court implemented mandatory electronic case filing on Tuesday, the first court to move to a mandatory system in 2018 as the state continues its push to introduce e-filing to all Indiana counties by the end of the year.

Noble County will follow suit and move to mandatory e-filing on Friday, followed by DeKalb and Orange county courts on Jan. 9. Meanwhile, the Beech Grove City Court will be the first to introduce voluntary e-filing in 2018 when it does so on Feb. 2.

So far, courts in 77 Indiana cities or counties have introduced voluntary e-filing, while 67 have implemented mandatory systems. The Indiana Supreme Court has set a goal of introducing e-filing in all of Indiana’s 92 counties by the end of 2018.

The schedule of mandatory and voluntary e-filing implementation in the remaining courts can be found here.
