The Indianapolis Bar Association's Women & the Law Division is accepting nominations for the 2009 Antoinette Dakin Leach Award. The award is given to a female attorney in central Indiana who exemplifies the determination and successes of Leach and is a pioneer or trailblazer in the community.

Leach was the first woman to challenge her bar admission denial based on gender. She was granted a license to practice law by the Indiana Supreme Court in 1893, but wasn't admitted to the Indiana State Bar Association until 1909.

Nominations are available on the IBA's Web site. The deadline is July 31 and the recipient will be honored at a luncheon this fall.
